Joyful Joy Foundation, according to Osas, is a personal project born from the death of her older sister, Joy, who passed away while pregnant due to malaria. “At the time I didn't know what it was,” she explained. “When we [my family] finally got hint of the disease, I made it a personally duty to fight against it in Nigeria [my country] and Africa as a whole”.

The former Miss Black USA has been back to her home country Nigeria since 2009 and she is finally getting this massive project off the ground. “My sister [Joy] used to love the song ‘Joyful Noise’ a lot and that’s how the name came about,” she clarified. “Children are not to suffer, not from malaria when they could be protected from it. They are innocent and someone has to fight to keep them safe from anything be it malaria, HIV/AIDS, illiteracy, bad water, poor living standards etc. J.J.F will do all it can to keep kids in Nigeria safe from malaria especially.” She concluded.
J.J.F launch in Lagos had performances from Nigeria Entertainment Awards winner, JJC Skillz and other local singers. There was free HIV/AIDS testing, free safe sex counselling sessions, dancing competitions (kids to adults) and many goodies to take back home.
“It’s just a dream come true and I know my sister is proud wherever she may be,” Osas ended with a huge smile on her face. See pictures from the launch:
