Many Nigerians believe that the very foundation of the country during the 1914 Amalgamation by the British colonial rulers was faulty, leading to the myriads of problems facing the nation today.

In recent years, more than ever, there has been agitation for Nigeria to be divided with each region forming its own independent country.

In the heat of the Boko Haram abduction of over 200 female students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka reiterated this call, claiming that Nigeria is too big for President Goodluck Jonathan to rule and that the only solution to the problems in the country is division.
