Why do child stars crash?

They shine bright when they are young but kid stars fade off when they get much older much to the disappoint of many.

Macaulay Culkin looks far from what he used to be as a famous child star

It is a common belief in the celebrity world that child stars eventually crash and burn unfortunately not fulfilling their potential.

Yesterday (April 7, 2016) Macaulay Culkin, the former child star announced that he had retired from acting. His retirement comes at the early age of 35. The ‘’ star is now a poster child for kid stars who failed to fulfill their potential.

Another child star who exemplifies the tragic fall of kid stars is Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan. The 29-year-old actress was a huge sensation when she was little. Starring in movies like ‘’ and ‘’ made a her a huge star. Unfortunately shouldn't cross over into being an adult star as controversy trailed her once hot acting career.

Rehab, alcoholism, and other crazy things plague the careers of child stars when they become adults. Many of them failed to make it big in their adult years. Some of have tragic endings and others just fade away.

At a young age these kid stars are thrown into the spotlight into the harsh world of entertainment. Strange people pull them into opposite directions, heavy demands are made of them and they are not allowed to be kids.

They can’t handle the pressure, scrutiny and criticism. Justin Bieber was a lovely young boy when he first came on the scene. However with the constant media spotlight on him we've seen him struggle with the attention.

Thankfully he hasn't fallen off or found on his bathroom floor but we cannot deny that being thrust into fame and limelight at such a young age hasn't affected him greatly.

Not many child stars are lucky like Justin Bieber or Justin Timberlake. The pressure breaks them and they unravel into something ugly. Unknown to many, child stars do not even want to be stars. They are pushed by their parents and guardians who want them to be famous or popular for selfish reasons.

Many of them do not care about the mental state of these kids and whether they can handle fame. All they want is the money from them and the perks of fame. A lot of child stars have ended up fighting with their parents or guardians for manipulating them for money.
