Celebrity baby daddies, when boys become fathers

It's time for our male stars to grow up. Hey you can enjoy the playboy lifestyle and be with so many women but use your brain before you impregnate any woman on your bed.

Davido, Wizkid, Ice Prince

I have this belief that a man's wife or longtime partner is a reflection of who he is as a person. I don't need to see you before I make my conclusion on who you are.

All I have to do is look at your wife or baby mama or whatever they are calling it these days, and know who you are. I sincerely believe that your choice in women says a lot about you.

I don't belong to the conservative type that balks at the idea of having a baby daddy-baby mama set up. If it floats your boat then good for you. Not everyone is equipped to be in the family structure that mankind has been running since the beginning of time.

The baby mama-baby daddy arrangement has been increasingly trendy within the last five years. When 2face was welcoming babies at the drop of a hat circa 2008 many Nigerians criticized him.

Now three top Nigerian music artistes, Davido, Wizkid and Ice Prince all have kids and are not married. Their careers have not received the bashing 2face received a few years ago. I think it has even helped them a bit. This shows you how things are changing within our society which is necessarily not a bad thing. Like I said different strokes for different folks.

What bothers me about this baby daddy thingy is about the parents themselves. Let's take a look at Davido, Wizkid and Ice Prince. They all had kids when they were young, which is not a crime. They however fathered children with women who I can best describe as young women with 'troubling personalities and backgrounds'.

Ice Prince fathered a child when he was 26 with a 20 year old woman named Bimbo Batunde. Now according to unconfirmed reports, Bimbo was a former groupie of Ice Prince's label mate and close friend Jesse Jagz.

Next is Wizkid. He had his child in 2011 when he was 21. The mother of his son is Sola Ogudugu, a young woman who was 'arranged' for him after a show he performed at Houdegbe North American University, Cotonou,Benin Republic.

And let's move on to Davido- the baby daddy of the moment. He had a baby daughter Imade Adeleke this year at the age of 23. His baby mama is Sophia Momodu who some sites described as a 'soul calmer' given to Davido before a performance in Abuja.

Looking at all these young men, I would say they are care free and grossly irresponsible for having unprotected sex with women who some would say have questionable characters. Who you have a child with is very important. For one it determines if your future will be largely peaceful or filled with turmoil.

In ordinary circumstances regular guys who have baby mamas enter messy situations with the mothers of their kids. Now for celebrities you would expect it to be messier.

While, Wizkid and Ice Prince have been lucky so far in not having public drama with their baby mamas, pop star Davido has not been so blessed. Yesterday Davido was involved in a child abduction scandal that doesn't do his already tainted public image any good. Davido has always been seen as a spoilt brat. Now he will be regarded as a wicked father.

Sophia Momodu might have her faults but Davido is responsible for this whole mess. I don't care if your baby mother smokes more weed than Wiz Khalifa, you do not deny a mother her child. It is wrong, and illegal. If you knew she was irresponsible then why did you impregnate her? You can't cry wolf after the deed has been done. And looking at Davido's lifestyle I don't think he would be a more responsible parent than Sophia.

Whoever advised Davido to take his child abroad without his baby mama's consent should be kicked out of the HKN set up immediately. This is such a bad move on Davido's part. Thanks to this abduction story Davido's female fan base is going to take a big hit.

Davido is hardly a man himself. A lot of our male artistes are still kids when they have their first children. They don't make the best decisions. The fact that Davido, Wizkid and Ice Prince needed paternity tests before they accepted their kids proves that a lot of male celebrities carelessly throw their futures away just because of lust.

If you have a kid with a groupie or 'olosho', chances are as a male celebrity that you are about to head into a series of scandals. And these guys have no one else to blame but themselves. Nothing good can come out of that situation. A set up where the parents don't love themselves will be bad for the children. It's had to be cordial with a booty call.

I am not saying you shouldn't have kids before marriage. All I am saying is have kids with who you love and trust. Rap star Olamide had a baby boy this year with his longtime girlfriend who was there for him before he hit it big. There were no stories of DNA tests and Olamide not wanting the baby. Olamide has been able to steer clear of the baby mama drama.

It's time for our male stars to grow up. Hey you can enjoy the playboy lifestyle and be with so many women but use your brain before you impregnate any woman on your bed. Don Jazzy is a wonderful example. He is hardly a virgin but you can't see him caught up in baby mama nonsense. That's why his career has been so successful.

Davido should become a man now. He should deal with whatever drama he has indoors. Crying like a little kid in public is immature. As a man why would you want everybody up in your business? That's why we have lawyers. Everyone should sit down and agree what's best for both parties and the child involved.

Like I wrote earlier, show me your woman and I will tell you the kind of person you are. I am not surprised Davido is in this mess, and I won't be surprised if his contemporaries fall into the same drama too.
