Ice Cube's son has no plans to boycott Oscars

Considering the circumstances and Ice Cube's reaction to the Oscar snub, Jackson Jr, we cannot help but wonder why he insists on attending the 2016 Oscars.

O'Shea Jackson Jr., 24, Actor

As many more prominent coloured celebrities join in 'The White Oscars' boycott, Ice Cube's son and rising star, O'Shea Jackson Jr. has made it clear that he would not be joing them.

Even after his steller performance in his break out role, where he played his father in hit movie, 'Straight Outta Compton', the young star did not receive any nominations.

Considering the circumstances and Ice Cube's reaction to the Oscar snub, Jackson Jr, we cannot help but wonder why he insists on attending the 2016 Oscars.

Speaking with E! News on the issue at the Critics Choice Awards, Jackson said:

"The voters, they're entitled to their own opinions, just like you and I.

"That doesn't mean Straight Outta Compton is not being celebrated.

"We are still up for an award for original screenplay and I will be there to represent Straight Outta Compton."

Since Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith announced that they would not be attending the Oscars, due to the Awards' lack of diversity, many more coloured celebrities have joined the train, going as far as to urge comedian, Chris Rock, to turn down his prestigious role as the host of the awards.

The fact that Jackson's name has been mentioned over and over again during these discussions, as one of the black actors deserving a nomination, has done little to affect his opinions on the issue.

Jackson added, saying:

"Just back to the drawing board.

"They'll be there for years to come and let's make sure we are, too."

We wonder how Ice Cube as well as other coloured celebrities would receive this news.
