No one is happier for Bruce Jenner and his decision to change into a woman than his dear friend and transgender star, Lavern Cox.

While attending the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday, April 25, Cox told MSNBC, ''I told Bruce, 'This is like another gold medal.' His reaction? The former Olympian replied, 'This is better than a gold medal.'''

No one quite knew how the world would react when Jenner told ABC's Diane Sawyer on Friday, April 24 that he was transitioning into a woman in a bombshell interview. But reports say the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, with high ratings and high fives from other celebrities.

Cox, who appeared on Time magazine’s cover 'The Transgender Tipping Point' issue, also had some good things to say about the 65-year-old E! Reality star.

''I think a lot of people tuned in expecting to see a spectacle, and they tuned in and saw a profoundly nuanced, complicated, beautiful human being... I thought ABC handled it really beautifully.'' the actress said.

However Cox warns against focusing too much on just one person, saying, ''Bruce’s story is very specific. Most trans people don’t have that kind of privilege. At the end of the day, the visibility that I had last year and continue to have, didn’t save Blake Brockington from suicide, didn't save Leelah Alcorn from suicide, didn’t save the seven trans women who were murdered the first eight weeks of this year. So visibility matters, but structural change and policy change is what needs to happen so the lives of all trans people will be better.''
