According to Carbuzz, these three auto companies have joined a program called DeepDrive.
Ford, Volkswagen, Toyota collaborate on autonomous project
Ford, Volkswagen, and Toyota have formed a partnership in order to get autonomous (self driving) cars on roads.
This project funds an autonomous research at the University of California at Berkeley.
It takes $300,000 to join the program, then each company gets access and permission to use any technology that gets developed.

Other members of this project include electronics part suppliers, Samsung, Panasonic, and Nvidia.
The last partner, Qualcomm, is there to develop artificial intelligence for autonomous cars.
