Nairobi, Kenya based Afro-pop band Sauti Sol tell Pulse about current work with Nigerian artists Davido, Adekunle Gold, Simi among other discuss.
They talk about their disappointment with not being able to perform at the Gidi Fest 2017, but take solace in the opportunity to work with top Nigerian artists, the result of which they would showcase at the next music staged event in Nigeria that they get invited over for.
On the concept of their last put out album ''Live and die in Afrika'', they say it's aimed at pushing the message of pan-Africanism, encouraging Africans to stay in Africa basically.
The group talk about music as a tool to impact society positively, and African music having that one sound that unites the continent.
On working with Yemi Alade, the group say "Yemi is a machine, she's a hardworking woman, she 's an example to so many girls out there that just wanna make it and will stop at nothing to hit the jackpot.
One thing Yemi has been able to do that no other artist has been able to do is connect with Swahili-speaking people on a deeper level."
The pop group talk enthusiastically about the new collaborations they have with Nigerian artists and producers.
"We have been working on a lot of collaborations, and others. We are not spreading ourselves too thin, we are fans of these people and we are happy to work with them.
“We created something soulful with Adekunle Gold, and he doesn’t know, but he has a fan base in Kenya," they tell Pulse.
They had kind words of praise to say about the other acts such as Tiwa Savage and her connection with Jay Z and Roc Nation.
Sauti Sol has already teamed up with Nigerian acts Yemi Alade and 2Baba, so Nigerian collaborations doesn't come new to them.
With one extended play and three albums in the kitty already, Sauti Sol look geared up for work on their fourth album.
