The biggest music ceremony of the year is here - the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA).

American actor and comedian Anthony Anderson opens the ceremony. Did he just speak Zulu?

The event begins with a moving bit of Durban culture. DJ Fisherman and Naakmusiq are the first performers at the MAMAs, they perform their hit single 'Call out'.

The crowd goes wild! All eyes on Burna Boy! The 'Like to party' crooner starts off 'All eyes on me' from the bleachers and moves to takes the stage with AKA and Da Les!

Stonebwoy takes the stage to join the performance. Oh snap! His microphone volume is super low.

Anderson takes a swipe at Rick Ross. He says 10 years of MTV in Africa is like a prison sentence for the rap star.

Vanessa Mdee and Lynxxx present the first award of the night. The award for Best Live Performance goes to Diamond Platnumz. The Tanzanian star who beat Nigeria's Flavour Nabania, Big Nuz, Mi Casa, Toofan gives them props for their live performances.

2Face Idibia is joined by South African singer Bucie to perform his loved song 'African queen'. Who knew Bucie could speak Yoruba?

Anderson returns on stage and fails badly at speaking French. Emmanuel Ikusebe who plays Femi on Shuga and MTV VJ Nomuzi take to the stage to present the awards for the next categories.

The award for BestLusophone act goes to Ary. As the singer thanks her fans, we can't help but notice her dress is almost see-through. Mama mia!

The winner of the Best Francophone award is about to be announced. All bets are on Toofan and DJ Arafat right now.

And the winner is DJ Arafat.  Sadly he's not here to receive his trophy.

Ne-Yo is here!! The stage lightening looks super dope. He performs 'Let me love you'. Is it us, but why isn't Neyo dancing?

HHP and Kenya's top fashion blogger Sharon announce Cassper Nyovest as the winner of the best hip-hop award. The South African rapper shares how he used to open up for HHP and now he is receiving his award from the SA rapper.

'All eyes on me' wins Best Collaboration of the year. AKA, Burna and Da Les dance to receive the trophy for their award-winning song.

Black Motion and Casper perform next. Anderson poses the question we've all been asking: "Cassper you gon' marry that girl or what?" (He's referring to the rapper's girlfriend Boity Thulo).

And 'Dorobucci' wins Best Song of the year! Don Jazzy and Reekado Banks receive the award. The Supreme Mavin Dynasty CEO thanks his SMD team, his fans and Durban.

Don Jazzy and Pearl announce the winner of the honorary artist of the decade award.

Nigerian talent stays repping the country; and the winner is P-Square. They dedicate the award to upcoming artists.
