On Monday, Apple announced a 71% increase in sales in China, which represents a revenue volume of $16.8 billion. The numbers are spectacular, but the fact that Apple sold more phones in China than in its home market, the US, during the first three months of 2015 is even more astonishing.
Apple crushes the Chinese market with its bigger screen iPhone 6
The growth story of consumer electronics company Apple, seems to find its next chapter with its huge success on the Chinese market, thanks to the tremendous sales numbers of the iPhone 6.
The best selling product has been by far the iPhone 6 with its bigger screen, which seems to match Chinese customer taste as a bigger screen size is more favorable to enter the Chinese characters on the screen.
At the same time, a mobile phone is often the only electronic device that Chinese consumers own, thus mobile phones are heavily used for video streaming or work.
According to an analyst from FBR Capital Markets in New York, the Chinese market might account for 40% of Apple sales by 2017, as the company was able to establish partnerships with three leading telecommunication providers as well the creation of a country-wide distribution network across the country.
Apple struggles to find its position on the African continent though, but the company opened its South African office in April this year to stimulate growth on this continent as well.
