Dangote is still willing to buy Arsenal FC after a failed bid in 2010

Africa’s richest person Aliko Dangote has told Bloomberg that he’s still willing to become majority shareholder of one of the most popular football clubs in the world: Arsenal London.

After his failed bid in 2010, when the club owners and Aliko Dangote were not able to find an agreement during their negotiations, Arsenal fan Dangote has renewed his interest in selling the club one day. And he has good arguments for that. At Bloomberg, Dangoe states:

His wealth is now seven times as high as in 2010 while Arsenal’s current majority owner Stan Kroenke (£3.7bn) has far less funds available. Arsenal is currently valued at close to £1 being in the second position in the English Premier League. But Dangote states in his manner of a clever business man: “I might buy it, not at a ridiculous price but a price that the owners won’t want to resist. I know my strategy.”

Dangote would be the first African club owner of the Premier League, but he already expressed that he won’t be a passive owner, who remains silent. Dangote already criticized Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger’s in the interview by stating that the club should rethink its strategy, Wenger “needs to change his style a bit”.
