The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola has shared his optimism concerning electricity in the country.
Fashola says power generation will increase to 2,000Mw
There is an encouragement in the fact that based on privatisation, the duty of power distribution are now vested in the hands of various power companies
He predicts that based on on-going measures and preparation, the country will witness an increase of power generation to 2000megawatts by the last quarter of the year.
He mentioned this during the Ministry’s budget defence before the Senate Committee on Power and Mines adding that a lot has changed in the management of the sector in recent times.
The Minister saw encouragement in the fact that based on privatisation, the duty of power distribution are now vested in the hands of various power companies.
Assistant Director (Press), Power Ministry, Etore E. Thomas, in a statement quoted Fashola as saying that the 2016 budget focuses more on transmission, completion of ongoing projects, refurbishing power plants and tackling gas supply issues.
