'Known and Strange Things' is coming out in August and we are so excited

Yaaay! Teju Cole's first book of essays is coming out in August.

The Nigerian-American writer, photographer, and art historian announced on Instagram that the collection called Known and Strange Things will go on sale August 9.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the 40-plus essays in the book will span art, literature, and politics, with topics from Virginia Woolf and James Baldwin to President Obama and Boko Haram.

The collection will include pre-published essays that gone viral, like “The White Industrial Savior Complex,” first published in The Atlantic.

Photography critic for New York Times Magazine and a regular contributor to The New Yorker, The New Inquiry, Teju Cole is the author of two books: a novella, Every Day is for the Thief and a novel, Open City.
