Solomon Dalung and his unbeaten streak in misbehaviour

Solomon Dalung

I mean; how can a man his age who bears Solomon as a name decide to spite common sense? How does that work? How does he sleep in the night? Does his children laugh at him? Does his wife still cook for him? He is just bent on snatching the tiny rays of hope emerging from anywhere and turns it to something else.

When I heard that the super falcons won the tournament, I felt for them honestly. I felt for them because Nigeria is that wicked father who doubles as a failure yet he never pats his son or daughter in the back even after he/ she comes first in school.

I had pity on them before an official reason to gift them pity came yesterday. The official reason did not shock me. I was not surprised that the minister of sports opened his mouth and said that the federal government doesn’t have the money to pay the ladies because they didn’t expect them to win. Chineke nna! What insolence!

Truly, I was delighted that his inhumanity has gained weight and his common sense slim down to the barest minimum.

Now, I am thrown aback by this grandiose display of blasphemy. Imagine a man who sleeps with a woman every night open his mouth to say he won’t take care of the baby when it comes because he never expected the woman to be pregnant. Why sleep with her at all? Why invite her to your house?

So, Mr. Solomon, why let the falcons leave this country? Why let them play at all? When they qualified for the finals and you knew that there wasn’t money, why didn’t you withdraw them from the tournament because their chances were high? Just why?

He is trying to show us that mediocrity is the new cool by never expecting the ladies to bring home the trophy.

At the end of the day, we see and believe that Nigeria doesn’t worth our sweat. The super eagles traveled all the way to Rio few months back and didn’t have accommodation. All in your tenure?

Few months later, the ladies suffer the same sham. The federal government have clipped the wings of the eagles and the falcons with their nonchalant demon. Whenever they try to fly again and mock the art of flying, hold the government. They are undeniably responsible.

They have shown us that their major aim was to bring Nigeria to the level of the foot mat placed before a motor park where all kinds of people can trample on it.

It’s a pity that we Nigerians suffer different shades of tragedy. These tragedies are comedies to other countries. They read our blogs to laugh at us.

Nigeria is a reformed football team with new players and an ‘experienced’ captain. Few months after the league that started in May 25 2015, the team was already in the relegation zone. Well, we shall wait patiently for the next transfer window to loan the entire team to oblivion. But until then, we are all in this trap called Nigeria.
