The international edition is named ‘CcHub Diaspora Challenge’, and was launched at the United Kingdom Office of Facebook with over 300 tech enthusiasts and innovators in attendance.

The “Cchub Diaspora Challenge” is a project that seeks to engage young technopreneur, innovator and scientists from African communities in the UK, and elicit viable business solutions to social challenges in Africa.

Mr Bosun Tijani, CcHub Co-founder and CEO said during the launch,“We have long wanted to build stronger tech community connections between the UK and Africa in order to increase Diaspora community involvement.

“CcHub is a social innovation hub - we innovate and build to address social problems, and we want to facilitate development-focused dialogues and attract the best talent to help us in our mission.

“The CcHub Diaspora Challenge is the starting pistol to engaging, mentoring, incubating and investing in Africans in the UK who can help ‘build Africa’ alongside us,” Tijani stated

The launch of the challenge would kick start a UK-wide search for early stage technology driven ventures with a focus on one of the three thematic areas of the challenge - Financial Technology, Energy or Education.

According to information on the hub’s website, two ventures from each Thematic Area are to be selected, and would receive a nine months’ incubation from CcHUB as well as an investment of $15,000 from CcHub.

After this period, Ventures which are able to demonstrate sustainability and innovation are then each able to access a further $250,000 seed investment from Growth Capital.

It would be recalled that the Cchub have been organising similar technology challenges in Nigeria, with tech startups such as Paypanda, My Review, and Cashmadam were declared prize winners in some of this challenge.

CcHub is positioning itself as a vibrant community young innovators, armed with technology skills to impact and drive the development of Nigeria. The Hub is currently made up of over 15,200 technologists, entrepreneurs and other forward thinking Nigerians, and has incubated and provided support to portfolio of over 55 early stage technology-based ventures within its five years of operation.

In August 2016, the hub was made the first point of call by the Facebook Founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, during his business tour of Africa.
