Niger Tornadoes Football Club of Minna on Sunday defeated visiting Akwa United Football Club of Uyo 1-0 in a 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) encounter.

Ifeanyi Okoye got the lone goal through a penalty kick in the 29th minute after Mohammed Babawo was tripped in the box by Godspower Igodia of Akwa United.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NPFL Match Day 14 game was played at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.

NAN reports that the hosts showed greater determination than their opponents in securing the maximum points from the match.

Head Coach of Niger Tornadoes, Bala Abubakar, later told NAN that his players were determined to win the game.

He said the team was excited to have secured the maximum points in the match.
