LONDON — A BBC cameraman was whisked off to hospital today after his foot was run over by a car containing Jeremy Corbyn.

The Labour leader was arriving at Labour HQ to sign off his party's manifesto, which had already been leaked to two newspapers.

The car was being driven by police officers. The Metropolitan Police said they were looking into what happened.

A spokesperson said: "At about 11:22hrs on Thursday 11 May officers from the Met's royalty and specialist protection unit were carrying out operational work in Savoy Place WC2R when it is believed a member of public was injured by one of the vehicles.

"London Ambulance Service attended and took the injured man to a south London hospital with non life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

"As is routine, the MPS will refer the incident to the directorate of professional standards."

The incident capped off a chaotic morning as the Labour leaders' allies rowed over the source of the leak of Labour's general election manifesto.

Following the leak, Corbyn pulled out of his own campaign poster launch, with allies claiming he was "dealing with internal matters."

The Labour leader later told reporters that the final manifesto would be released in the coming days but declined to take any questions.
