Stock Market gains on Richard Quest’s Visit

Mr. Quest is currently on a filming tour of Lagos, Nigeria's commercial hub.

Mr. Quest beating the gong alongside the Executive Director, Market Operations and Technology, NSE, Ade Bajomo; the Chief Executive Officer, NSE, Oscar Onyema; and the Supervising Producer – Africa, CNN, Stephanie Busari.

Mr. Quest, the anchor and producer of the ‘Quest Means Business’, is reported to be have arrived Nigeria earlier this week to film in Lagos, the Nation’s commercial hub and fifth largest economy in Africa.

The journalist had disclosed on his Twitter handle that he was “busy filming around Lagos”, adding that he will be “tweeting my early thoughts on being back in Nigeria after 10 years away.”

Also on the day, the country’s bourse gained 0.25% as the All Share Index (ASI) closed at 25,753 after losing 0.77% the previous trading day. The improvement in the market performance was linked to the positive results from the reports of the major tier-one commercial banks in Nigeria, despite economic is slowdown.

Some of the banks whose results were released are the First Bank Holdings Limited (proposing a 20k per share cash dividend), ETI N18.681 billion PAT, Access Bank – N26.019 PAT; UBA – N22.350 billion PAT; FCMB holdings – N1.581 billion PAT and Union Bank of Nigeria – N4.519 PAT.
