1. Consumer confidence falls for the first time since Trump's election, according to the University of Michigan's bimonthly survey.

5. JC Penny is closing up to 140 stores to "effectively compete against the growing threat of online retailers." Additionally, the retailer reported adjusted earnings for the quarter of $0.64 a share, higher than analysts' expectations of $0.60 a share. Revenue came just barely below expectations at $3.96 billion against analysts' projections of $3.98 billion.
