The foremost beauty pageant announced the date on 23rd November 2016 at a press conference at Folis Media Group Victoria Island, Lagos.
The current Miss Nigeria, Queen Pamela Peter-Vigboro Leesi spoke on how her "reign has been fruitful and how she had the experience to give back to the community".
The Programme Director for Miss Nigeria, Dr May Ikeora, enlightened those in attendance placing emphasis on how young girls can be empowered and encouraged beyond beauty while stating that the pageant is on the look for "confident and intelligent young women with great values".
On the qualification/requirement the girls applying for the competition should possess:
Must not be pregnant, no height and weight restriction, should be unmarried and without child, no tattoos with age between 18 – 26.
On prizes for the winners and the activities coming up at the camp
A car and N3million in salary for the winner, opportunities to travel out for meetings and holidays. The activities in camp include 80% empowerment training, which Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) is taking the lead role, fun, and choreography, etiquette etc.
