Some people are carving up pineapples and not the traditional pumpkins for Halloween and the results are awesome.

Halloween is fast approaching and preparations have begun in earnest.

Halloween is the season of spooky jack-o-lanterns and as expected, people are stocking up on pumpkins to be carved.

However, others are eschewing tradition and carving up pineapples into creepy Halloween ornaments instead. Surprisingly, they turned out great so you might want to skip the vegetable and try the fruit instead.

It turns out that pineapples are a good alternative to pumpkins. For one, they have funky hair and freaky textures by default.

So if you dare to be different this year, try a pineapple jack-o-lantern.
