The event which was held at the famous Alex Ekwueme Square was packed full with people, who thoroughly enjoyed themselves with the various displays.
Traditional rulers, presidents' general and top government officials graced the final event. Vanguard Newspaper reported.
Deputy governor of the state, Dr. Nkem Okeke, who chaired the anniversary committee, commended the various committees that showcased their cultures during the festival.
One of the organizers of the event, Mr. Anthony Ugorji told Vanguard Newspaper that the Igbo tradition has no comparison in terms of its richness. "Nowhere in Africa can one find a tradition that is similar to Igbo tradition. Our tradition is peculiar. Despite the influence of Christianity, there is no running away from our tradition.
"All influential Igbo people, including the late Zik of Africa, Professor Chinua Achebe, Chief Mmabazuluike Amechi, late Dr. Pius Okigbo, all loved Igbo tradition gong by the way they were dressing up to public functions. They treasured Igbo culture.Igbo tradition is wonderful, but the tragedy is that Ndigbo do not fully understand their culture,." he said.
